Luxury fashion brand Miu Miu has reintroduced a beloved trend from the 2000s: scoobie keychains. These vibrant woven accessories, once a staple for school children, are now transformed into an upscale version, commanding a price tag of $700.

The news was first shared by the satirical Instagram account ‘missdoublebay’, which quipped, “Evil doesn’t die, it reinvents itself. Is the humble scoobie about to make a comeback?”

The term “scoobie” derives from the French ‘scoubidous’, referring to knotted fabric cords that gained popularity in the 1950s. While some Australians welcomed this playful revival, with comments like “I’ll take five,” others were taken aback by the extravagant price.

User’s jested, “Honestly, if you’re that desperate just get a pack of scoobies, braid it like this, and save your $700″ and “dad could have made a killing! 🤣”. Where capitalism and nostalgia blurs, luxury brands profiteer off marketing to a new generation of fashionistas while evoking fond memories of childhoods bygone.
