The largest spherical structure in the world which also features the largest programmable LED screen ever made is ready for its first concert.

Sitting just off the Strip in Las Vegas, is Sphere.

The state-of-the-art facility is set to officially open on September 29 and Irish rockers U2 will christen it with a residency stretching through December.

While billion-dollar stadium-like venues are usually built to pack in punters, this was created with the opposite in mind. Sphere holds less than 18,000 seats, giving audiences an intimate, one-of-a-kind immersive experience.

“Most music venues are sports venues. They’re built for sports – they’re not built for music. They’re not built for art,” Bono explained during an interview with Apple Music.

“There’s nothing like it. It’s light years ahead of everything that’s out there,” added The Edge.
