Now that Halloween is in our rear view mirror, it’s that time of year where we add millions of dollars to Mariah Carey’s bank balance by playing her perennial festive favourite, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’
It’s estimated Mariah makes about US$3 million every holiday season based on streams from that song alone, with that figure increasing if she goes out and performs it in public and on the tele.
Sure, there’s plenty of artists who have attempted to generate a Christmas classic over the years, but honestly there’s really only two that have succeeded (we can’t not acknowledge Last Christmas by WHAM! here) and we just love the fact that Mariah whole heartedly embraces it!
Her latest ‘launch’ video has just dropped and in it, she’s thawed out from a block of ice by Halloween themed characters as the clock strikes midnight November 1 proclaiming “It’s time”.
