Director James Gunn has shared the first photo of actor David Corenswet as Kal-El/Superman in the upcoming “Superman” movie. Originally known as “Superman Legacy” and now simply as “Superman”.
The photo shows a more traditional design with the return of the iconic “red Underpants on the outside” and shows some action in the background as superman is getting dressed to go and save the day.

The caption for the photo reads simply “Get ready. #Superman” in reference to him “getting ready” in the image as well as a message to us the audience to also be prepared for this new take on the character.
Gunn says in the comments section of his post that the image was taken by @jessmigliophoto, “our intrepid still photographer, and is entirely in-camera.” What an amazing shot if that is accurate.
As with anything as instantly iconic as this, the internet is ablaze with parody including the recently released “Garfield” movie.

The actor playing Superman is David Corenswet recently showed off his increased muscle mass, is it just me or does he look just like previous Superman actor Henry Cavil in this shot?

Bringing Superman into a modern world is no easy task for James Gunn who also wrote the new film. It apparently follows Superman’s coming to terms with his Kryptonian heritage as “Kal-El” as well as his human upbringing as “Clark Kent” where he is guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.
“Superman” will open in cinemas on July 11th 2025
