There has been a lot of speculation about Ricciardo’s future in the sport, but it looks like we may finally have some clarity on what his 2024 will look like.
Formula 1 reporter Tobi Gruner is reporting that AlphaTauri has made the massive decision to stick by the pairing of Yuki Tsunoda and Ricciardo for 2024.
This means that impressive Kiwi Liam Lawson, who has filled Ricciardo’s seat while he recovers from his hand injury, will be left without a seat after impressing in his 3 races so far and even scoring points in Singapore.
Lawson’s performances have put serious heat on Red Bull’s junior team to make a decision, but the bad news seems to be heading Lawson’s way.
Gruner believes that the announcement of Tsunoda’s contract extension will be made at this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, which is also his home race.
Gruner posted on Twitter that “We expect Yuki Tsunoda to be confirmed for 2024 this week at Suzuka”.
We expect Yuki Tsunoda to be confirmed for 2024 this week at Suzuka. Ricciardo announcement will follow later. Mick Schumacher is not an option for Williams. He’s looking for a double job – WEC driver at Alpine & F1 reserve at Mercedes.
