A teenager has been charged following the death of a man in a horror crash in northern NSW last year.
Emergency crews were called to Tamarind Drive in Ballina around 5.45pm on September 18 following reports of a serious crash.
Upon arrival, they found a Honda Accord and a Hyundai i30 had collided.
Police removed the 62-year-old driver of the Hyundai from the vehicle before he was treated at the scene by paramedics, but sadly he was unable to be revived.
The 18-year-old driver of the Honda was also treated at the scene before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
A crime scene was established, and the crash investigation unit launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Following inquiries, the now 19-year-old driver was yesterday charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving and drive on /over continuous line near painted island.
He was given a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Ballina Local Court on Thursday 1 May.
The man’s licence has also been suspended.
