A man has been charged after a brawl in Surfers Paradise before allegedly fleeing across the Nerang River.
Police were called to Cavill Ave at around 8.40pm on Thursday following reports of a physical altercation between two groups of people.
Officers tried to talk to a 30-year-old man allegedly involved in the fight before he took off on foot.
The man is understood to have swum across the Nerang River to Chevron Island to evade Police.
He was tracked down a short time later hiding in scrub at an apartment complex near Tarcoola Crescent and Stanhill Drive.
The man was tasered and taken into custody.
The 30-year-old from Warner has since been charged with commit public nuisance and obstruct Police.
He was refused bail to front Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
