The Prime Minister has touched down in North Queensland where he’s expected to visit flood-ravaged communities this morning.
Anthony Albanese has left Federal Parliament to show face in the disaster zones which are continuing to be lashed by heavy rain.
The weather event has already claimed the life of two women in Ingham, which has been among the hardest hit areas.
A major search and rescue operation is also continuing this morning for a third person feared missing in the floodwaters there.
The man was swept away after entering floodwaters on Tuesday night and remains unaccounted for.
Premier David Crisafulli visited the town on Wednesday, where he made a pledge to residents that authorities will not stop until all resources have been restored.
“We are here, we have lots to do, we are not going anywhere until it’s done,” the Premier said.
“Power, water, phone, cleanliness, getting you back on your feet.
“I say that to all the communities, wherever you are, we are going to be there with you for the long haul and we are going to get you back on your feet.
“I am here to deliver what this community needs”.
