Authorities are reviewing CCTV after an elderly man was allegedly bashed by a group of 20 juveniles in a shocking attack at a Gold Coast tram stop.

Police were called to the Helensvale Light Rail Station around 2am on Sunday following reports of the assault.

Upon arrival, officers were told by Glink staff that around 20 juveniles had been assaulting an older male, however the teens fled the scene before police arrived.

Two girls, aged 17 and 15, were located nearby a short time later and were spoken to by police.

However, charges are yet to be laid as the victim is still yet to make a formal complaint.

Fortunately, the elderly man did not receive significant injuries as a result of the attack and did not need to be taken to hospital.

“Police will continue to review QLink footage to identify the remaining juvenile offenders involved,” Queensland Police said.
