Police probe suspicious car fire in Southport

Police are hunting a firebug accused of torching a car in Southport.

Emergency crews found the vehicle engulfed in flames in a carpark along Rawlins Street around 2.20am on Wednesday.

Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze within 15 minutes.

It’s not known at this stage whether or not the vehicle involved was stolen.

However, police have confirmed they are treating the fire as suspicious.
