It’s take two for Queensland’s richest race event with the Magic Millions set to be run under lights at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Friday night.
Torrential rain on Saturday forced organisers to postpone the event after stewards declared the track unfit.
But it’s now full steam ahead for Friday night, and racegoers can get in for free!
There are seven races to be run from Saturday including the feature races The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, with $13 million in prize money still up for grabs tonight.
“After last Saturday’s unfortunate weather event, we are so excited to welcome owners, trainers, jockeys and all participants to be showcased on the Gold Coast this Friday night,” Magic Millions CEO Barry Bowditch said.
The horses and people involved in our great industry will be the stars under lights. The atmosphere will be electric on and off the track and you simply have to be there to witness the first The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions at night.”
Gold Coast Turf Club CEO Steve Lines says it’s going to be an exciting spectacle.
“There’ll plenty to see, we’ve got lots of activations, we’ve got a laser show, an electric violinist and a surprise DJ so it should be a wonderful place to be,” Lines said.
“This is the first time anyone has put GA entry on such a prestigious race meeting with such prizemoney for the general public to come out and have a look and we look forward to having everyone out here.”
Gates will open at 4pm with free General Admission entry.
The first race will jump at 5.30pm with the 2YO Classic to run at 6.03pm.
