It’s a big day for local burger lovers with a major American fast-food joint opening it’s first-ever store in Australia, right here on the Gold Coast.

Wendy’s will begin welcoming customers at 9am this morning at their new store along Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise.

The menu will feature Wendy’s signature items including the Baconmator, Wendy’s Frosty, Loaded Chilli Cheese Fries, and their square hamburger patties.

The Gold Coast store is the first of 200 Wendy’s restaurants set to open in the Australian market and will generate up to 40 local jobs at each store.

Lauren Leahy, Chief Transformation Officer at Flynn Group, the master franchisee for Wendy’s Australia, says they’re proud to bring a fresh approach to the Australian food scene.

“The Wendy’s brand was built on doing things differently, from square hamburgers to being one of the most talked about brands on social media,” Ms Leahy says.

“Wendy’s embraces a challenger mindset, and we think Australians do too. We’ve put our guests in the centre of every detail from a vibrant new restaurant design with a laser focus on delivering the best chicken and hamburger experience.”

Wendy’s menu will also include an Australian exclusive of hand-breaded chicken tenders.

The cult burger chain opened its first store in the US in 1969.
