With just seven more sleeps until the jolly man in red arrives down the chimney, we are now close enough to get a pretty accurate picture of what the weather is shaping up to do.

The Bureau of Meteorology has just released its official Christmas Day forecast and it’s pretty good news for the Gold Coast!

A sunny day with a warm top of 30C has been forecast for the city on Christmas Eve, while a “generally dry and mostly sunny” day has been forecast for the all-important December 25.

According to the weather bureau, there will be a few light winds around, with a top of 28 degrees expected.

However, BOM admits it is “important to note that the forecast may change as it gets closer to the day”.

Here’s hoping we have finally been blessed by the weather gods following last year’s Christmas night tornado which left a trail of destruction across the city.
