A woman has been arrested over an alleged stabbing attack at a unit in Coolangatta in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Haig Street around 2.25am after a 21-year-old man and 19-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening stab wounds.

Both were assessed at the scene before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

According to paramedics, the young woman suffered multiple stab wounds to her back and hands, while the man suffered wounds to his hands.

Police have confirmed all of those involved are known to each other.

The 20-year-old woman remains in custody with charges yet to be laid.

Investigations are ongoing.
