A teenage girl has been killed in a horror crash at Helensvale.
The 15-year-old was behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla sedan travelling westbound on Helensvale Road just after midnight on Sunday morning, when the vehicle lost control, hit a street sign and ploughed into swamp water.
The Molendinar girl suffered critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
Two passengers, a 21-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, both suffered significant injuries and were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit has launched an investigation into the crash.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it, or may have relevant dashcam vision, to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing.
