Manhunt after bus employee stabbed at busy Gold Coast shopping centre

A manhunt is underway following the stabbing of a transport employee at Robina Town Centre.

The bus security officer had been patrolling the bus stops along Arbour Lane when he ducked inside for a toilet break before being set upon at around 1pm Wednesday.

The 60-year-old man suffered a wound to his hip and is recovering at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Witnesses report seeing a young man flee the scene after the attack.

A crime scene has been established at the shopping centre as investigations continue.

A motive remains unclear and the attacker is yet to be tracked down.
