LATEST @ 12 PM | Police have confirmed a man has died in a horror workplace accident on the northern Gold Coast.
The man was working on a site along Days Road in Upper Coomera around 9am on Monday when he became trapped between a scissor lift and a ceiling.
He suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
Gold Coast Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon admitted it was a “confronting” scene for emergency services.
“Our condolences go out to the man’s family and colleagues,” he said.
“People don’t go to work to lose their lives.
“It’s not about getting the job done quickest but getting it done safely… We want people to return home”.
Workplace Health and Safety has confirmed it is investigating.
EARLIER @ 9.30 AM| A man is fighting for life after an incident at a workplace on the northern Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to a facility, believed to be a school, along Days Road in Upper Coomera just after 9am on Monday.
Queensland Ambulance has confirmed they are treating a man for life-threatening injuries at the scene.
It’s believed the incident may have involved a scissor lift during some construction work.
