A crime scene has been declared at a Gold Coast restaurant after it went up in flames for the second time in a fortnight.
Emergency crews rushed to DeNiro’s Kitchen and Bar in Hope Island around 4.30am on Friday following reports the restaurant was on fire.
Fire crews managed to extinguish the blaze, however, it still caused significant damage to the building.
Police immediately declared a crime scene, with a jerry can found outside the business.
The suspicious inferno comes just two weeks after the same restaurant was targeted in another attempted arson attack.
A man stormed the restaurant around 11pm on Friday May 17 and poured accelerant over the floor in a bid to set it on fire.
He then fled the scene on a motorbike and remains at large with no arrests or charges laid at this stage.
Investigations are ongoing.
