A passenger who was killed when a stolen vehicle slammed into the Uber he was travelling in has been identified as a Gold Coast man.
Ryan William Victor Grafton, 30, died instantly after a Ford Mondeo ploughed into the passenger side of the rideshare vehicle at Wacol around 2am on Tuesday.
Instead of stopping to help, the driver of the stolen Ford fled the scene on foot and remains on the run with a major manhunt underway.
Police allege the motorist sped through a red light before ploughing into the rideshare car at high speed.
The rideshare driver, 42, was taken to hospital in a stable condition with suspected back injuries.
While Grafton’s 26-year-old female friend was hospitalised in a serious but stable condition with chest and abdominal pain.
Police are appealing for witnessses or anyone with dashcam to come forward.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are ongoing.
