An elderly man has allegedly been attacked with an iron bar during a violent home invasion on the northern Gold Coast.
Two masked men allegedly forced their way into a home on Baynton Avenue in Helensvale around 7am on Monday.
A 74-year-old man was allegedly assaulted before the pair fled with an amount of jewellery in a white Mercedes.
The resident was later taken to hospital for observation.
Around 8.50am, Police received reports of a break-and-enter happening at a home in Morfantine Terrace in Parkwood where the Mercedes was also seen.
Two males fled the scene but were arrested a short time later following a foot chase.
An 18-year-old Logan man has been charged with seven offences, including two counts of entering a dwelling and committing two counts of serious assault of a person over 60, possession of a knife in a public place, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing a police officer.
A 19-year-old Logan man has been charged with eight offences, including two counts of entering a dwelling and committing, two counts of serious assault of a person over 60, possession of a knife in a public place, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police officer and assault police officer.
Both men are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
