A motorcyclist has died after a crash in Southport.
The motorbike was travelling west on Smith St around 5pm on Tuesday afternoon when it crashed into a guardrail.
The 28-year-old male rider from Gleneagle suffered critical injuries in the accident.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was declared dead at the scene.
The accident forced the closure of Smith St, causing major delays for motorists during peak hour
The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
