Police are searching for a driver who allegedly fled the scene of a serious crash involving a rental car on the Gold Coast.
The Toyota Corolla lost control and flipped along the Pacific Motorway at Upper Coomera around 8pm on Monday.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the vehicle overturned in a ditch on the side of the M1.
The driver appeared to have made a run for it before crews arrived, with police sniffer dogs also unable to track anyone down nearby.
The motorist remains at large this morning, with police appealing for anyone with information or dashcam to come forward.
It’s since been confirmed the car was a rental vehicle and was due to be returned to its owners on Monday morning.
“The vehicle had not been returned after its booking time of 10am on Monday,” police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
