LATEST @ APRIL 4 | Two men have now been charged over a dramatic police pursuit stretching from the Gold Coast to Logan.
Their wild crime spree began in Surfers Paradise early Wednesday morning when they were allegedly involved in an armed robbery at a hotel.
It’s alleged the pair, who were armed with a gun, stole a white Mercedes, as well as a gold chain and $3000 in cash.
PolAir then tracked the stolen vehicle for hours as it sped across the Gold Coast, before heavily armed police swooped on the vehicle in Logan.
A 30-year-old man allegedly behind the wheel was taken into custody, while a 41-year-old man was also arrested nearby in a BMW that was allegedly stolen from a home in Runaway Bay.
Both men have since been hit with a string of charges between them including unlawful and dangerous use of a motor vehicle, along with a number of serious drug offences.
They will front court at a later date.
EARLIER @ APRIL 3 | An armed burglary on the Gold Coast has sparked a wild police pursuit, with two men now in custody.
A stolen Mercedes was first spotted by police at around 8.30 this morning, with the police chopper called in to track it.
The vehicle eventually stopped near a rural property in Logan, with one man seen fleeing from the vehicle into a house.
Armed police swarmed the area, with the male suspect taken into custody.
Police say the Mercedes had been stolen from a Surfers Paradise motel around 4.45am during a burglary, where two males armed with a weapon entered the property and took the car keys.
While conducting investigations, police discovered a second vehicle, which is suspected to have been stolen earlier from Runaway Bay.
Two people are now in police custody.
Charges are yet to be laid.
