A Far North Queensland police officer has been suspended from duty after being hit with a string of serious sexual offences.
The 55-year-old senior constable has been charged with four counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
Queensland Police have confirmed the alleged incidents occurred while the officer was off-duty.
Police also allege the man was known to the victim.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 21.
The man has also been suspended from the Queensland Police Service.
