LATEST @ February 6 | A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the stabbing murder of a grandmother at an Ipswich shopping centre.
Vyleen White was allegedly stabbed in front of her six-year-old granddaughter during what’s alleged to have been a carjacking at Town Square Redbank Plains on Saturday night.
Despite desperate efforts by bystanders and paramedics, the 70-year-old could not be revived and died at the scene.
Following a major manhunt and public appeal for information, police managed to track down five youths who have now been charged over the fatal incident.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged with one count each of murder and unlawful use of motor vehicle, and three counts of stealing.
He is due to appear in Ipswich Children’s Court today.
Two other 16-year-old boys and two 15-year-old boys have also been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing.
EARLIER @ February 5 | A 15-year-old boy has been charged over the theft of a vehicle allegedly stolen from a Queensland grandmother who was stabbed to death.
Vyleen White was stabbed in front of her six-year-old granddaughter during what’s alleged to have been a carjacking at a shopping centre in Ipswich on Saturday night.
The 70-year-old died at the scene.
A major manhunt to track down those responsible has been underway since, with officers confirming this morning that a 15-year-old boy had been arrested in relation to the stolen vehicle.
“The 15-year-old Ripley boy presented to Ipswich Police Station around 9.30pm last night,” Queensland Police said.
“He has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the alleged stolen car.
The teen is due to front Ipswich Children’s Court today, while the search for the three others involved continues.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
