Independent film company A24, renowned for its cinematic ventures, is set to release a tribute album honouring the legendary 1984 Talking Heads concert film, “Stop Making Sense.” Following the successful theatrical re-release of the film last year, A24 tantalizes fans with a humorous teaser featuring Paramore’s cover of “Burning Down the House.”
In the video, Paramore’s lead vocalist, Hayley Williams, receives a sizable package on her doorstep, unveiling a jumbo grey suit reminiscent of David Byrne’s iconic stage attire from “Stop Making Sense.” The clip concludes with a snippet of Paramore’s rendition of “Burning Down the House,” which is slated as the opening track on A24’s tribute album. Excitement mounts as A24 confirms the inclusion of a total of 16 songs on the forthcoming release. While the exact release date remains shrouded in mystery, anticipation brews among fans eager to experience this musical homage.
Coinciding with the theatrical resurgence of “Stop Making Sense,” a deluxe edition of the soundtrack was released last year via Rhino. The film, directed by the late Jonathan Demme, captures the Talking Heads’ electrifying performances over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983, a cinematic gem earning its place in the National Film Registry in 2021.
