Two men have died after their light plane came crashing down in Queensland’s Scenic Rim.

Emergency services rushed to Bruckner Hill Road at Dugandan, near Boonah, just before 12pm on Sunday after receiving multiple triple-zero calls.

The aircraft, which was returning to Boonah Airfield, plummeted just metres away from where people were playing golf at Boonah Golf Club.

Despite desperate efforts by emergency crews, the two men on board, aged 69 and 82, could not be saved.

Investigators are now probing the cause of the crash, with reports no mayday call was made.

“That is something the investigators will have to pursue, in terms of any transmissions that were made from the aircraft,” Ipswich Acting Inspector Kerry Olsen said.

“We are aware that there are many members of the community who may have witnessed this particular crash and our thoughts are also with those persons”.
