A major rescue mission has taken place at a flooded campground at Natural Bridge in the Gold Coast hinterland.

44 people were left stranded when waters rose significantly at the private site near Hayters Rd at around 5.00pm Monday night.

Paramedics assessed all 44 patients, with one person suffering minor injuries transported with a family member to Robina Hospital.

The remaining 42 people were taken by bus to the evacuation centre at the Bicentennial Community Centre at Nerang.

A severe weather warning remains in place today for heavy, locally intense rainfall which may lead to dangerous, life-threatening flash flooding.
