LATEST @ 8.45am | Parts of the Gold Coast have already been hit by storms as the city braces for another day of action.
Areas of the southern Gold Coast were woken to storms earlier this morning in what is expected to be a taste of things to come.
A warning is current for a storm cell moving towards the Gold Coast from the north west which could impact some northern suburbs still reeling from wild storms on Christmas night.
The Bureau is forecasting that cell to hit waters off the Gold Coast Seaway by 9.15am.
It’s warning of the potential for damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hailstones.
Another severe storm is moving in from the west across the Scenic Rim and was forecast to impact Beaudesert by 9.15am.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
