The nominees for the 81st Golden Globe Awards have been announced, with this year’s biggest blockbusters earning nods.
Gold Coast girl Margot Robbie is one of three Australians up for awards after being nominated for best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy film for her starring role as Barbie.
The 2023 film, which raked in more than $1.4 billion globally, has dominated this year’s awards.
The movie megahit has earned nine nominations, including best picture musical or comedy, with fellow star Ryan Gosling also earning an actor nom for his role as Ken.
However, it was closely followed by rival film Oppenheimer, which was released on the exact same day.
The three-hour thriller scored eight nominations, including best picture drama and best director, as well as individual nods for actors Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey jnr and Emily Blunt.
Robbie’s fellow Aussie pals Sarah Snook and Elizabeth Debicki also earned Best Actress nods for their TV roles in Succession and The Crown.
While Succession was the top-nominated television program with an impressive nine nods.
The 2024 Golden Globes are set to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 7.
