LATEST @ 11.30 AM | Eleven people have been taken to hospital following a massive crash between a bus and truck on the M1.
The truck smashed into the back of the bus southbound at Stapylton just before 10am, sparking a major emergency response.
Paramedics spent almost two hours on scene assessing 60 people, including multiple teenagers.
The bus was carrying 55 teenage students and 5 teachers, who were reportedly on their way to Wet’n’Wild for an end-of-year excursion.
The driver of the truck was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition, while a teenager was taken to Queensland’s Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Nine other students have been transported in stable conditions to Logan Hospital for further treatment.
Injuries included various fractures, cuts and abrasions.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area, with traffic at a complete standstill all the way back to Daisy Hill, with side roads in the area also heavily congested.

Traffic is being heavily impacted with at least two lanes currently closed.
