The Gold Coast’s film industry has been given another massive boost, with Hollywood director Ron Howard set to start filming his new project right here in Oxenford.
The film, named Eden, will begin production at Village Roadshow Studios near Movie World next month.
The survival thriller will star a number of big names including Jude Law and Sydney Sweeney, along with Oscar nominee Vanessa Kirby and Ana de Armas.
According to Deadline, the film is based on an unsolved mystery that unfolded on a remote island in the Galapagos and “charts the lengths humans will go in pursuit of happiness”.
Filming will also head to a number of locations in North Queensland.
Confirmation of the production comes just a week after Howard was spotted strolling through the streets of Broadbeach, admitting to eagle-eyed reporters at the time that he was scouting for locations.
But he remained tight-lipped on exactly what project he was working on.
The film is the latest project of Howards to be filmed on the Gold Coast, following the Thirteen Lives documentary which was released in August last year.
