A man has been charged following the alleged seizure of more than $27 million worth of meth on the Gold Coast.
Police raided two properties in Bundall and Surfers Paradise on Monday and Tuesday this week as of Operation Victor Concede, which works to target the alleged supply and distribution of illicit drugs across the Gold Coast and southeast.
As a result, police allegedly discovered approximately 27 kilograms of methylamphetamine and around $20,000 in cash.
The dangerous drugs have a total estimated value of $27 million.
In body-worn footage released, officers can be seen finding the alleged drugs stuffed inside suitcases.
The 30-year-old Surfers Paradise man was taken into custody during the search at Surfers Paradise on October 24.
Police say it means a huge amount of drugs is now off the streets of the Gold Coast.
“This is a significant outcome in the context of the harm caused to the local community by this alleged criminal syndicate,” Detective Acting Inspector Joyce says.
“We remain committed to disrupting serious and organised crime and ask the public to continue assisting us by providing any information regarding drug supply in their community.”
The local man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine), and one count each of possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence (cash), possessing anything used in the commission of crime, possess utensils (hand grinder), and contravening order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.
He appeared at Southport Magistrates Court on October 25 where he was remanded behind bars until November 8.
The raids were captured on police body-worn camera, which can be viewed below.
