Stolen car found smashed into a pole on the Gold Coast

Police are investigating a stolen car crash in Merrimac this morning, with the occupants nowhere to be found.

Officers were called to Gooding Drive at around 5.30am with reports a white Ford Falcon had struck a pole and was blocking a lane.

Upon arrival, the car was empty with the occupants having fled the scene.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from a home on Oxley Drive, Coombabah between 11.30pm last night and 5am this morning.

Investigations are continuing.
