Gold Coast ice-cream manufacturer ‘Frosty Boy’ has been named Queensland’s Exporter of the Year.
The local business took out the top honour at Wednesday night’s Gala Dinner, after doubling its yearly sales to Indonesia.
The Yatala-based factory has also boosted its revenue in India by 200%, and 95% in the Middle East in the past two years alone.
The iconic business has been exporting since 2001, manufacturing up to two million soft serves per day at its Yatala factory and exporting to more than 65 countries.
In total, 43 Queensland businesses were celebrated at Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards last night with 13 companies advancing to national Australian Export Awards on 30 November 2023.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says food manufacturers generate $25 billion dollars for our economy each year.
“Companies like Frosty Boy are leaders in their field, boosting Queensland’s global reputation for quality and excellence,” the Premier says.
“Queensland’s leading exporters have been honoured through these awards for more than three decades and it continues to be a wonderful platform to celebrate their resilience, ingenuity and ongoing success.”
Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment, Cameron Dick, says the hard work of local businesses like Frosty Boy strengthens Queensland’s economy and created more good jobs.
“When it comes to the Queensland economy, soft serve means hard currency, and this award is the cherry on top of another exceptional year of export growth for Frosty Boy,” Minister Dick says.
“Queensland businesses are not just competing internationally, they are market leaders because of their exceptional standards, quality of goods and remarkable services,
“These awards recognised the success of Queensland’s best export businesses who dared to dream big and take their products overseas.”
