Two teenagers have been charged after their wild joyride in a stolen car came to a crashing end in Upper Coomera.

The pair was spotted driving dangerously in a stolen BMW across the city on Wednesday.

Their escapades came to a halt when the vehicle smashed into a set of traffic lights along Abraham Road in Upper Coomera around 4pm.

The teens fled the scene, but police were eventually able to track down and arrest two 15-year-old boys around an hour later.

The boys, from Pacific Pines and Helensvale, were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

After being released, they were hit with a string of charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a licence, and wilful damage.

One of the teens is due to front Southport Children’s Court today, while the other will appear on October 23.

It’s believed a 15-year-old girl also ran from the vehicle and remains on the run.
