The first piece of rail that will link Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads has arrived on the Gold Coast, marking a significant milestone in the Light Rail project.

The rail will be installed next week near the end of Broadbeach south station along the Gold Coast Highway.

It’ll be part of a 40-metre section, with two tracks for the north and south.

GoldlinQ CEO Phil Mumford welcomed the first rail delivery for the Stage 3 route.

“This is a small part of the 6.7km Stage 3 section but it is a real positive to have it on the Gold Coast and for works to be scheduled to start on the concrete installation next month,” Mr Mumford says.

“We had the five new trams arrive by the middle of this year and the stabling construction at the depot is now complete,

“We look forward to getting above the ground next year and beginning the rest of rail works.”
