The Gold Coast will get an early burst of summer when temps set to hit the 30s.

Heatwave conditions that have been sweeping along the eastern seaboard will move further into Queensland on Thursday.

The Gold Coast can expect temperatures almost 10 degrees above average with the mercury expected to hit 32 degrees along the coast and up to 34 degrees in our west.

That will be accompanied by some gusty northwesterly winds which will have firefighters on edge.

However, the fire danger rating across the southeast has been downgraded to moderate.

Those winds will shift to the north later in the day after a cool and gusty southerly change heading our way.

That is expected to hit the Gold Coast late this afternoon or early this evening which will send temps plummeting again.
