Authorities are investigating the cause of a massive fire that tore through a home in Tallebudgera overnight.

The inferno is believed to have erupted in a caravan parked in the garage of the Fenton Drive property before jumping to a nearby vehicle and quickly spreading to the rest of the house.

The owner of the home, Leigh Hawker, told Seven he arrived home just seconds before the fire broke out around 11pm.

“I just got home from work and I was unpacking when I heard a big bang and ran up and the caravan was on fire,” he said.

“I just did what I could, but I wasn’t able to contain the fire and it spread to the car and also to the house”.

The man’s wife and 3-year-old daughter were asleep inside the home at the time, but thankfully managed to get out before the blaze took hold.

Running on adrenaline, Mr Hawker also rushed inside to rescue the family’s pet dog.

It took 16 firefighters and four trucks around one hour to bring the fire under control.

While everyone escaped uninjured, the home was significantly damaged, with the car and caravan completely destroyed.

Police have confirmed the blaze is not being treated as suspicious.

Investigations into the cause are ongoing.
