Police have launched an arson investigation following a suspicious fire on the Gold Coast early this morning.

Emergency crews were called to a rural property along Jenkins Court in Upper Coomera around 2.15am, following reports of a shed fire.

It’s understood the owner of the property woke just in time, managing to put out the blaze and salvage some of the vintage vehicles before the flames took hold.

However, a 1968 Holden HK series car and a 1971 Holden Monaro were damaged.

Fire investigators attended the scene and located the presence of an “accelerant”, with a major investigation now underway to track down the person responsible.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have seen anything unusual in the area early this morning, to come forward.

A crime scene has been declared.
