The rumour mill has been sent into overdrive after Richmond superstar Dustin Martin was spotted catching up with his former coach Damien Hardwick on the Gold Coast.

The pair were snapped enjoying lunch together earlier this week after Martin headed to the glitter strip to enjoy a post-season break.

The duo’s reunion has only fuelled speculation the AFL great could be looking to join Hardwick at his new club the Gold Coast Suns.

That’s despite the Brownlow medallist being contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2024.

Hardwick was pressed on the topic when he was unveiled as the new Suns coach a few weeks ago, where he hosed down speculation he would try to lure the 30-year-old to the Gold Coast.

“Eighty per cent of our first premiership side is sitting in this room right now … this side and this club are very capable of saluting in the not-too-distant future,” Hardwick said.

“You have to tailor a game plan to what you have here, and a lot of the tools I’m looking for are in this building right now.

“We’ll bring a style of game that will be relatively similar to what you see Collingwood, GWS and Richmond play.

“At this stage, I’m thinking I have all the people I need in the building and I don’t really need to bring anyone else.”
