Two men have died following a horror head-on crash in Central Queensland overnight.

Police said the crash occurred along the Capricorn Highway, east of Duaringa, just after 8pm on Tuesday.

“Initial investigations indicate a Mazda-3 was travelling east on the highway when it crashed with a Toyota Hilux travelling in the opposite direction,” Queensland Police said.

The Mazda 3 then erupted into flames, with the male driver dying at the scene.

The male driver of the Hilux also died.

A cattle truck that was nearby at the time of the incident received minor damage and the driver was uninjured.

Officers are asking anyone who might have witnessed the crash, or who has any information that can help investigations, to come forward.
