Five teenagers are in custody and assisting police after a Gold Coast school was broken into and trashed.
Police were called to the primary school along Delta Cove Drive in Worongary around 11.00pm on Sunday after a nearby resident reported seeing people trying to break into classrooms.
Upon arrival, officers located three 18-year-old boys, a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl allegedly trespassing on school premises.
Police scanned the scene and no damage was located at the time, however, cleaners arrived at the school early this morning to find multiple classrooms had been vandalised.
“It wasn’t until this morning, that we realised they have come in through the roof and wreaked havoc once they were in the classrooms,” Acting Superintendent Geoff Sheldon told the ABC.
“Mission impossible sort of stuff, they’ve dropped down through the skylights, and just smashed them and come down through there”.
“Normally you don’t go to that much effort to get into a classroom, but it was something different”.
No charges have been laid at this stage, but police have confirmed investigations are continuing.
