A teenage boy has been stabbed during a frightening home invasion in Varsity Lakes.
A man allegedly broke into a unit on Christine Ave around 1am on Wednesday morning.
The intruder was disturbed by a 15-year-old occupant of the unit before an altercation broke out before the boy was allegedly stabbed in the chest.
The man’s father was able to restrain the intruder after being woken by the break-in.
The teen was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.
Police say his injuries are non-life threatening.
A 52-year-old Varsity Lakes man was arrested at the scene with officers allegedly locating a knife on him.
He has since been charged with one count each of wounding, enter dwelling and commit and possession of implements that had been used in relation to particular offences.
He was denied bail and will front Southport Magistrates Court today.
