A man has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in a suspected hit-and-run allegedly fuelled by an earlier prang on the Gold Coast.
It’s understood two vehicles had been involved in a minor crash along the Gold Coast Highway and Twenty Third Avenue in Palm Beach around 9am this morning.
Both cars pulled over, with the driver of one of the vehicles allegedly approaching the other.
A Queensland Police spokesperson said an altercation then broke out, before the second vehicle drove off, causing the man to fall underneath the rear of the car.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found a 49-year-old man suffering serious head, chest and pelvis injuries.
He was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
Following investigations, police located a van and a 63-year-old man in Currumbin a short time later.
He’s currently assisting police with inquiries as investigations continue.
