A number of streets have been blocked off in the busy Surfers Paradise precinct after a fire broke out inside the Gold Coast’s tallest skyscraper.
Hundreds of residents have been forced to evacuate after a fire ignited inside the Q1 Tower in Surfers Paradise around 7.30am on Monday.
The blaze is believed to have started in a rubbish chute on the 19th floor of the 78-floor tower.
Multiple people are being treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation, while one person has suffered an arm injury after falling while trying to make their way down the fire escape.
Six fire crews are currently on scene, with another five en route.
Police have blocked all traffic at Clifford Street and Surfers Paradise Boulevard.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area as emergency crews respond.
