A male has died after being thrown from a hired e-scooter in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley early this morning.

Emergency crews say the rider was travelling south along Barry Parade around 3.30am, when he came off the device near the intersection of Alfred and Gipps Streets.

“It appears that the rider had been travelling on the e-scooter at speed and he has clipped a gutter and come off and struck his head on a concrete curb,” High Acuity Response Unit Officer James Wylie said.

Friends of the rider provided immediate first aid before emergency crews arrived on scene.

However, despite the desperate efforts of both witnesses and paramedics, he could not be revived and died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now nvestigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

They’re appealing for witnesses, including passing motorists and businesses with relevant dashcam and CCTV, to come forward.
