A woman has been charged with stealing offences after allegedly robbing a Gold Coast politician.
A police officer spotted the 29-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl acting suspiciously in Mermaid Beach on Sunday afternoon.
He detained the pair, finding the older woman in possession of goods allegedly stolen from Surfers Paradise MP John-Paul Langbroek’s car just minutes earlier.
“The items, including Mr Langbroek’s keys and wallet, were seized and given back,” Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said.
The woman was also allegedly found with property taken from nearby shops that same afternoon.
She’s since been charged with a number of offences, including possession of tainted property and stealing.
The woman will front court at a later date.
