Four teens have been arrested after allegedly threatening a ride-share driver with a knife during an attempted carjacking in Currumbin.

The driver picked up the boys in Coolgardie St in Elanora around 5.30pm on Tuesday.

They were driven to Villiers Drive in Currumbin Water where they were to be dropped off.

As the journey came to an end, one of the boys allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded the driver get out of the car.

The rideshare driver sped off with three of the boys still in the car.

They escaped the vehicle when it stopped a short time later.

Police later tracked the boys down at an address in Palm Beach.

Three 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old were taken into custody.

Charges are yet to be laid and investigations and continuing.
