The mummified body of a 69-year-old man has been found inside a Gold Coast home.

It’s been revealed today that the grim discovery was made on April 17 on Edinburgh Road in Benowa, after police went to the home to conduct a welfare check.

There are reports the man could have been dead for years.

It’s understood the man lived with his wife and stepson, and it was an interstate family member who raised the alarm.

“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” a QPS spokesperson told myGC.

“There is no further information at the time. Investigations are continuing.”

Police have not indicated whether the death is suspicious.
